A commission from the lovely M., from the USA, here is little Mary Lincoln.
Inspired by this image of one of the real lady's dresses: [link]
Although the huge round shape to the skirts of that period is impossible to capture in my tiny dolls, I gave the skirt a couple of pleats so it puffs out a bit when properly handled. Because of that I decided against stitching the white lines down the dress as they would inevitably get all wonky, but I did hem her skirt, bodice and cap sleeves with a mix of purple and white whipped blanket stitch.
Her hairband is a mixture of satin and organza ribbon roses. Organza isn't as kind as satin to fold into the tiny roses, but the color fit so nicely into the whole ensemble I just trudged on and they ended up looking quite nice, imo.
