Madame de Pompadour II by deridolls Madame de Pompadour II by deridolls
Thanks to USPS, my previous Madame de Pompadour Deridoll [link] got lost in transit.
So I've been holding on to this post in fear of jinxing this new one as well.
But no more! :squee:
I heard back from :iconrafkinswarning: and she got her doll at last!

As before, she was inspired by this portrait by Boucher: [link]
She went pretty much as her predecessor, but with the benefit of me having more practice with the ribbon roses and bows. :D

I also went with a robe a la franšaise back this time: [link]

And here's a scale shot of the tiny roses: [link]

Thank you so much for your patience, :iconrafkinswarning:! You're the best! :glomp:

Oh I know. A few coworkers and I were all discussing tonight how much we want to go abroad. Just forget our lives here for a bit!

:( The last time I went away on a break was in 2008. God, how I miss being carefree, only if for a few days...

Last year I went to dragoncon in Atlanta, it's sort of like an uberfantasy/scifi/science/paranormal/everything convention. It was stressful and some stuff didn't really work out well, but as a coworker described it was like finding my tribe. I so want to go back.

she is a beauty! I'm sure the new owner was worth waiting!
I'm sorry for the lost doll... didn't you think about sending them registered? it contains insurance.. it's not too expensive in Hungary, but i don't know if it is in Portugal...

Thank you, dear!
Yes, she went under a special service with complete tracking and its own form of insurance, which means USPS will have to fork over some money if she isn't found. For 5€, it's a bargain compared to what I read about from other countries!
I love that service and, in approx. 200 dolls shipped, this is only the second time one goes missing (and they promptly compensated me the first time). :) For 5€, it's a bargain!

:D YAY she got there!! FINALLY!! ._. Tell you about US mail service, man. It's awful.

:3 This one is just as adorable.

Thank you, darling!

I guess I've been lucky so far. The USA is my biggest doll destination and this is the first (and hopefully ONLY) time it happened.
Right after you told me that, I had a doll shipped to California, so imagine my stress! :nervous: But she got there without a hitch, thankfully!

I got the Portuguese Postal Service on the case, so I'm hoping they'll either get the first doll found or demand compensation from USPS to compensate me in turn. Fork it over, USPS! :makes grabby hands:

xDD;; Oh dear, I'm sorry to stress you out! I'm sure it's not all of California, just...ours. We live RIGHT behind the post office, so you'd think we would get our mail with some degree of accuracy. :| No. They use our route to train newbies, so we ONLY get packages every few days (usually on Saturday only) because the new kids are too lazy to do it every day. And our cards, add pages, etc, are frequently delivered to other STREETS--even when it clearly states our address on them. -_-

xD Hooray for the Portuguese Postal Service! That's pretty epic.

 Too lazy?! With the unemployment rates that are going around everywhere in the world, they do such a half-assed job?! It's one thing to be inexperienced, it's another to be purposefully incompetent like that. Those sort of things irk me to no end... :chainsaw:

Hooray, indeed! :D Like everything else, there are good and bad professionals working there, but, in a whole, it's a pretty reliable service with pretty decent prices compared to other countries.
I can send a doll with full tracking around the world for 5€. I've heard from a client in the Netherlands who told me that, for the same trip MINUS the tracking, she would have had to pay well over 13€!
I love you, my precious CTT! :glomp:

._. I. KNOW. It's infuriating.

O.o Holy cow. It'd take me about 10 USD to do the same thing. That's crazy good xD

I would swim over to the USA if I had to, just to smack some competence into them if they had the audacity to lose 2 envelopes in a row! :chainsaw:
I'm still hoping the first one returns to me, but at least I know this one is safe and loved. :cuddle:

Thankfully it didn't happen. :)
I've already filed a complaint regarding the first missing Madame and they'll have to fork over some money if they don't find it.
