A commission from the lovely ~MaryTudor, this is little Isabella d'Este, the sister doll of this one: [link]

Inspired by this portrait: [link]

Isabella d'Este (1474 – 1539) was Marchesa of Mantua and one of the leading women of the Italian Renaissance as a major cultural and political figure. She was a patron of the arts as well as a leader of fashion, whose innovative style of dressing was copied by women throughout Italy and at the French court.

I found this last bit about her being a fashion icon amusing, particularly because, if you pay attention to her portrait and that of her sister Beatrice, the dresses are incredibly similar!
So I had the challenge of trying to focus on the differences and somehow subdue the similarities so each doll had a distinct presence.
What do you say? Did I nail it? :)

Maybe she did it first and her sister copied her?! ;)

;) That's what I thought!
I usually take what I read on Wiki with a grain of salt. I mean, I love it to pieces, but I've come across some lapses of info there, too, so...
But to have such a greatly timed example of what they mentioned almost as a trivia there, it felt like a real glimpse into those sisters' private lives and I loved it!
